The Books of the Bible

.Understanding the Bible

Lesson 1

The Testaments

Many crimes have been committed against Christians. The reason why is we normally have blind faith. So are often willing to trust and believe things because of what we call faith. This is because even in our Faith in God we fail to find the facts concerning what we believe, so we are willing to believe anything and call it faith. But if we find out what we really believe we won’t fall for everything that we are told.

How confident are you with your knowledge of the Scriptures ? Very, Kind of , Average, a little confident, not very confident, I don’t understand the bible.

The Word Bible is from the Greek Biblia which means “the Scrolls” or “books”

The Bible takes place across three continents: Asia, Africa and Europe

The Hebrew Bible does not have the books in the same order as the English Bible- English Bibles have books grouped by type But the Hebrew Bible is arranged in this order. The Torah followed y former and latter prophets(blend of prophets and history)  followed by “the writings” a blend poetry, history, and prophetic books)

The Bible is broken up in 2 Testaments

Genesis means ‘origin’. It is the glorious account of how things began.

Genesis wasn’t the first book ever written—nor is it the oldest part of the Bible. But when the Bible was put together, this book had an obvious claim to come first.

The book of Genesis is in two parts: ancient stories from the mists of time (1:1–11:32) and the stories of the patriarchs (12:1–50:26).[1]
